initial D was disappointing frankly. practically dismal. and to think it was so highly anticipated.but before i go critcizing the movie, we will go to the pre-show entertainment.i have never ever seen so many beng bengs at the movies before. there were all sorts of beng bengs there - skeletal, lardy, armani, window-haired, long-sleeved, cheena..need i say more? call in the fashion police PLEASE. seriously guys, it's embarassing. and lex* was saying that these guys are all watching initial D and half of them (or more likely all of them) don't even have a driving license..which isn't a crime i know coz i watched it without a driving license on top of failing my basic theory..but their problem was that they were talking like they knew so much about what was happening..hello? i can't stand such smartfarts..what do you practice on? daytona?
the real irritation got on the way when we took out seats in the cinema. right in front of me there was this beng beng who looked like he used the whole jar of wax to style his hair. it was freaking high la..i mean..fashion tip: i know u're short, but styling ur hair so high just so does not do it. his hair was blocking half the subtitles, and if you know me..i totally NEED the subtitles. i was practially banging heads with the guy sitting on my right (lex was on my left), leaning over to read all the subtitles. halfway through the movie i sorta gave up and just started bothering more about how edison chen can look so good than what he was saying.
secondly, the two beng bengs behind kept talking! 'nuff said i think...i literally turned my head back to show them that they were kinda upstaging jay chou with their too many words and his too little.
the show itself was directed so badly i could cry. they tried to copy the anime so much with all the pauses in between. sometimes you can't even tell if it's a still or if the characters are just not moving. even i could have directed it better. i mean you've got a good story, good-looking actors, and you just had to take the path leading to crashing and burning.
the girl in the show was disappointing. she's not pretty. and she's chubby. hello? there's only 1 girl in the show, at least make her look good rite?the rest of the girls in the show were just embarassing. they were just screaming mobs.
the ending was abrupt. what happened to the girl? what happened to project d?i dunno.
the only good thing about the show was that the actors looked good. even jay chou! woo!! plus the racing scenes were way way cool. i would still advocate watching the anime though..it's so much better as compared to the show.
