i love hongkong!!
i had to go over alone last thursday coz mummy was there on a business trip and she went three days earlier. Mummy brought over the small luggage so i had to lug the huge hunka luggage all the way over to hk on my own! -_- luckily my bag was only like a quarter full..and luckily mag came to meet me at the airport! otherwise i'd have to drag my luggage from the airport to the train to the cab to the hotel on my own. woe is me.
seeing mag again was so awesome!! haha..she met me at the airport and we took the airport express train down to kowloon together..

mag's so pretty right!! hahaha..eh baka u said u wanted a hongkong girl...this is the only one i know leh..too bad for u she's attached already. hahaha..
the express train was so nice! it had like nice comfy seats and the ride to kowloon was pretty quick. at kowloon we took a 5 minute cab down to the marco polo hongkong hotel. i didn't wanna waste any time so i just dropped my bag off in the room and went out again with mag!
we went to a local tea house coz mag was really hungry. we had pumpkin beehoon, chicken wings and bubble tea! mag's bubble tea was so weird..it was like this green tea shake with cereal..haha..but it was rather nice la.

after lunch we went down to Langham place to shop around. it's kinda like the far east of singapore. the things weren't cheap though so we didn't get anything. Next up..Thai dinner!!
i actually told mag that i wanted to experience the local life but mag was like
ermm i don't actually like the local life ryn...
oh well..hahah..that's why we ended up shopping expensive and eating non-chinese food.
The thai dinner was good tho!!

mag and i in the cab on the way to dinner.

our thai chicken curry which we had with thai prata. Actually normal prata la..haha...

the appetizer platter that we shared. it was from right: vietnamese rice rolls, lotus leaf glutinous rice, vadai and some meat in some paper pastry..

mag and her vadai

me and our kangkong..looks good ya?

Fish! this is actually the decor, the fish is given in sliced fillets on the other side.."behind" the fish.

we got a free dessert coz we spent over HK$200 (that's like 50 sing) so we ordered the dessert platter to share! from left: black glutinous rice with mango, mango in filo pastry with dragon beard candy, banana cake with fresh bananas and warm milk and ice cream. yummy! mag and i were so full so we just took a bit of each just to try..
*****
Aunty pat and family were in hongkong too! they left on the same day as me but like 3 hours earlier. So because mummy had to work, i went around with them on the second day..

ahhh..finally..some good ol' hongkong food! i had my pei dan chok with teh peng while jastyn and uncle tony had beef noodles. oh the teh peng there is very nice!!! only it's not called teh peng la..it's nai cha..haha..like wangwang like that..

yes we chongs are very fair..
haha..
it was raining so heavily that day! mag told me the next day that there was actually a black rainstorm warning in the afternoon. which actually means that those with afternoon shifts at work or afternoon school don't have to go for them! how cool is that?? and all this time i was shopping around near the hotel..haha..
it was a good rainstorm.
everybody around us was carrying an umbrella! literally everybody! so it was pretty hard walking around without getting poked by one coz they even keep their umbrella open in the covered walkways. oh the umbrellas did come in handy when we had to cross road and stuff tho..haha..we would just try to share umbrellas with other people. There were so many people carrying umbrellas that it created like sort of a shade for us..
we spent most of our time that day at the esprit outlet. it's this outlet where all the out of season clothes are sold for really cheap! like HK$69 (S$ 14) for tops and HK$199 (S$40) for jeans and pants. There was this really freaky salesguy there tho..he came up to me when i was alone and started speaking in cantonese so being the polite girl that i am i waited till he was done and then went...
me: er do u speak english?
weird guy: (looks confused for 2 seconds) do you shchweeem?
me: wat??
weird guy: shchweem..shchweem..(starts doing swimming motion with his hands)
me: oh swim!! er yea i do..
weird guy: do you wanna buy a beach towel?
me: er no thanks.
apparently there was an offer for the beach towels that day. He told me that his boss said that he had to sell at least 1. quite poor thing..but i wasn't gonna spend hk$99 on a beach towel!
Aunty pat bought 2 tho..haha..so i felt better after that.
we went to pizza hut for dinner after that
the pizza there is supposed to be much better than in sg. i think it kinda is! except that the one aunty pat ordered had like a thousand island dressing base which i didn't really like..

jastyn and me!

jen and me!

jastyn had 1 pizza on his own coz he said that he was starving. i told him that he couldn't finish it but he insisted that he could. oh well..the pic says everything..haha..
he left that little bit behind coz he was too full..muahahaha..who is so the smart one?

uncle tony took the pic for us. my cousins are so cute! don't we look alike?
*****
3rd day!
took a train down to prince edward station and then went down to flower market street with aunty pat, uncle tony, jast and jen to go cheap shopping!! yaay!!
we had lunch at some small little noodle stall. well that sucked so we didn't finsh our food.
this was quite interesting though..

fish balls dipped in curry sauce. everybody was eating it so we decided to give it a try. it was not bad..pretty spicy. the fishballs are soft, not the kind of chewy ones that we have here.
i took a train down to mongkok at night to meet mag for steamboat!

we ordered so much that we couldn't finish! we only ate half the plate of cheese sausages and we didn't even finish our prawns. so terrible rite!! haha..
see the last small bowl? that's the sauce for the steamboat. it's like a mix of corriander, peanuts, chilli and some other things..the waiter will come in after the soup boils and pour some soup into the mix to make the sauce. they dont give any other sauce so as to not spoil the taste of the steamboat.
After steamboat i went down to nu ren jie (ladies' market) to walk around with mag. It was pretty interesting! but mag and i were there at bout 11+ so there wasn't much time to walk about..
*****
the next day was mummy's conference closing so she had the afternoon free!
so for lunch we all went down to a restaurant to eat chinese food again.m
the dessert was pretty interesting tho!

it's tau huay topped with fruits and syrup in dry ice. quite cool eh? haha..

me and the mother

took the ferry over to hongkong island to see if we could do some shopping but there wasn't anything much. plus it was raining like mad so we couldn't do much anyways..the ferry ride was nice tho! and so cheap!! only like 50cents sing! haha..we were all supposed to meet mag for dinner at hongkong island at nite but we were too wet and tired so we decided to just eat in kowloon instead.
back to mongkok to eat some nice chinese food!

after steamboat we went down to nu ren jie again to shop for cheap imitation goods! hahah..not me la..aunty pat..
it was rather fun! we had to go to this secret hideout where the lady stashed all her illegal goods.
we spent a lot of time there so we didn't really have time to go elsewhere..
after nu ren jie we had hk dessert! mango with aloe vera, mango ith hasmar jelly and mango with sago..
good ol' mango goodness! haha..

ok that's the end for this round!! i have lots of other photos to post...but in the next one!!
